EmpathBio

EmpathBio, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATAI Life Sciences, will research MDMA derivatives with pharmacological properties different from MDMA for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Such modifications could separate MDMA's carcinogenic effects from certain known adverse effects. If this approach succeeds, some transient physiological changes caused by MDMA could be avoided. In turn, the pool of PTSD patients medically eligible for treatment could also be expanded.
