RespireRx

RespireRx Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of novel drug therapies for the treatment of sleep apnea, drug-induced respiratory depression, and other brain-mediated respiratory disorders and diseases. RespireRx is developing Dronabinol (a capsule already approved by the U.S. FDA for other indications) for the treatment of OSA. RespireRx believes that patients prescribed capsules are more compliant than those prescribed CPAP devices. Two Phase II clinical trials have been completed, and preparations for Phase III are underway. Dronabinol is a synthetic form of D9-THC (δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol), a cannabinoid naturally found in cannabis. The U.S. government classifies it as a Schedule III drug and monitors its prescription. RespireRx is also developing a second platform, our Ampakine platform. Some Phase IIA clinical trials have been completed, showing the ability to prevent opioid-induced respiratory depression (opioid-induced apnea) without offsetting the required analgesic effects of opioids (analgesic action).
