The sensor array can be integrated with mainstream semiconductor processes and mass-produced. These sensor arrays possess all the attributes of nanotechnology-based sensors, including high sensitivity, small size, and low power consumption. These arrays can be used for chemical, biosensors, and gas sensors. They offer significant performance advantages for real-time monitoring applications such as point-of-care (POC) diagnostics and VOC detection in headspace analysis of biological samples. One particularly exciting application of these sensor arrays is breath analysis, a non-invasive process capable of detecting trace amounts of volatile organic compounds in human breath, which can form fingerprints for early disease detection and diagnosis.
