Unilab Corporation is the largest independent clinical laboratory testing company in California and one of the largest clinical laboratory testing companies in the United States. Unilab Corporation provides efficient and competitively priced laboratory testing services to physicians, managed care groups, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. Unilab offers more than 1,000 different tests, helping doctors diagnose, evaluate, monitor, and treat diseases by measuring the presence, concentration, or composition of chemical and cellular components in human body fluids and tissues. These tests range from routine tests, such as blood glucose monitoring and complete blood counts, to highly specialized tests, such as those used to measure HIV infection and Hepatitis C. In 2000, Unilab conducted approximately 30 million tests. Unilab believes that their revenue in 2000 accounted for approximately 25% of the independent clinical laboratory testing market in California, which is about twice the annual sales volume of the second-largest independent clinical laboratory in California.
