TOLLYS was founded in 2015 by senior scientists from the European Cancer Research Center and the Léon Bérard Center, both leading institutions based in Lyon, France. The company has developed a best-in-class TLR3 agonist within the field of immuno-oncology. In addition to its immune-stimulating properties (as an activator of antigen-presenting cells), the TLR3 agonist also has the ability to induce direct immunogenic tumor cell death and transform the tumor microenvironment. They hypothesize that the combination of these three actions will lead to the robust activation and recruitment of patient-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) within the tumor bed, thereby generating anti-tumor effects and creating an in-situ autologous vaccine against recurrence.
