Basic Information

GE Healthcare began its operations in China in 1979 and established its first office in Beijing in 1986. In 1991, Hangwei GE Medical Systems Co., Ltd. was founded in Beijing, becoming GE's first joint venture in China, followed by the establishment of Huaren Company – dedicated to creating China’s own Röntgen, and a joint venture with Haiying Group Corporation that led to the creation of the Wuxi factory. Currently, GE Healthcare has established multiple operating entities in China, including wholly-owned and joint ventures, with nearly 7,000 employees, including a research and development team of over 1,000 engineers, developing leading medical products and technologies for China and the world. In China, GE Healthcare continues to deepen its localization strategy in products, channels, services, and supply chain to meet the growing demands of high-end, grassroots, and non-public healthcare markets. GE Healthcare has now built up advanced medical equipment R&D and production capabilities in China. Since 2011, the China team has locally developed and launched more than 80 innovative products into the market. GE Healthcare has four global production bases in China, serving the world from China: a CT scanning systems and X-ray imaging systems factory in Beijing, where two out of every three CT scanners globally are produced; a contrast media production base in Shanghai, with 90% of its contrast agents supplied to the global market; an MRI systems production base in Tianjin, where one out of every two MRI machines sold globally by GE comes from this plant; and a clinical care equipment factory in Wuxi producing ultrasound, anesthesia, ECG, and patient monitoring devices, with ultrasound products from the Wuxi factory accounting for 40% of GE's global ultrasound sales volume.GE Healthcare is accelerating its digital transformation in China. GE Healthcare China's digital healthcare strategy is based on the Edison digital medical intelligence platform, combined with hospital intelligent management (APM, Radiology Command Center - RCC, Mural Critical Care Command Center), cloud computing (Cloud ECG, Cloud Imaging), and artificial intelligence (full-process AI MRI technology platform, Coronary Medical Image Processing AI Analysis System, COVID-19 AI Analysis Platform LK2.0). This helps hospitals and doctors make better clinical and operational decisions, promotes the distribution of quality medical resources, advances the construction of medical alliances and hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, and brings more efficient and convenient medical services to patients.
