Biosensors has been designing, manufacturing, and selling innovative medical devices for cardiac surgery and intensive care treatment. In 2000, Biosensors entered the interventional cardiology market and immediately became the first cardiology company to develop and patent its own proprietary mTOR inhibitor, Biolimus A9 (BA9™), a highly lipophilic anti-restenosis drug specifically designed for cardiovascular stent technology. Biosensors was also the first company to develop and launch a biodegradable polymer stent, which is coated with polymer and drug only on the abluminal side to reduce systemic exposure. Biosensors Europe SA oversees sales and marketing operations in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, India, and Africa. In addition to clinical, regulatory, and financial departments, BESA also operates a customer service department responsible for order management, relationships with direct customers and distributors, and oversight of product delivery.
