Basic Information

Tetra Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a portfolio of therapeutic products aimed at addressing the impact on cognitive function in diseases such as Fragile X Syndrome (FXS), Alzheimer's Disease (AD), traumatic brain injury, and other brain disorders. BPN14770 is a novel therapeutic agent that selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase-4D (PDE-4D) to enhance early and late stages of memory formation. This unique mechanism of action has the potential to improve cognitive and memory functions disrupted by central nervous system disorders. Preclinical animal models have shown that BPN14770 has the potential to promote the maturation of connections between neurons (impaired in FXS patients) and protect these connections (lost in AD patients).Currently, Tetra is conducting a Phase II study investigating BPN14770 for the treatment of FXS patients. Previously, BPN14770 received Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA for the treatment of FXS.
