Hikma

Hikma was founded in 1978 by Samih Darwazah, the current chairman and chief executive officer, in Amman, the capital of Jordan. In its early years, the company's main focus was developing a branded pharmaceuticals business in the Middle East and North Africa regions. Then, in the early 1990s, Hikma expanded beyond the Middle East and North Africa by acquiring generic drug businesses in the United States and establishing an injectable pharmaceuticals business in Portugal. Since then, the company has achieved significant expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions.
