United Airlines and United Express average 5,341 flights a day to more than 360 airports across six continents. In 2012, United Airlines and United Express carried more passengers than any other airline in the world, operating nearly 2 million flights and serving 140 million customers. United Airlines is investing in upgrading its onboard products, now offering more flat-bed seats in its premium cabins and more extra-legroom economy seats than any other airline in North America. In 2013, United Airlines became the first U.S. international carrier to offer satellite-based Wi-Fi on long-haul overseas routes. The airline also equipped 200 aircraft with DIRECTV®, providing customers with more live TV than any other airline in the world. United Airlines operates nearly 700 mainline aircraft and has made significant investments in its fleet. In 2013, United will continue to take delivery of more than twenty new Boeing aircraft to modernize its fleet. In 2012, the company expanded its industry-leading global route network, launching nine new international routes and 18 new domestic routes. Business Traveler magazine named it the Best Airline in North America for 2012, and readers of Global Traveler magazine voted United Airlines' MileagePlus program the best frequent flyer program for nine consecutive years. According to the fourth annual Switchfly Reward Seat Availability Survey released by IdeaWorksCompany in May 2013, United Airlines had the most available award seats among the largest U.S. airlines globally. More than 85,000 United Airlines employees reside in every state in the U.S. and countries around the world.
