Basic Information

Fusion Genomics has developed infectious disease diagnostic methods based on highly sensitive and large-scale multiplex DNA/RNA sequencing. It seeks to change the paradigm of individual treatment (optimal genomic information for effective personalized treatment) and public health (information for transmission dynamic models, outbreak prediction, and optimal vaccine development). The Fusion Genomics ONETest platform enables accurate and simultaneous detection and differentiation of hundreds of pathogens. The ONETest platform incorporates our patent-pending DNA/RNA capture technology, known as Quantum Probes. These are paired with fully optimized reagents into the ONETest kit for library preparation, which is then used to sequence samples on NGS machines (Illumina/Life). The sequencing results are analyzed using Fusion’s proprietary Fusion Cloud database and analysis suite. The ONETest platform captures actionable genomic data comparable to metagenomic sequencing but at a fraction of the cost. Compared to PCR, the platform offers advantages such as: over 1,000 times improvement in limit of detection; high sensitivity and specificity; detailed pathogen data including virulence and resistance markers; and a large number of target organisms and variants. Their cloud and proprietary databases allow us not only to provide all relevant clinical data but also to perform detailed strain-level analysis combined with other data (e.g., geotags) for surveillance, epidemiology, and transmission dynamics studies.Fusion Genomics develops tests for both monitoring/research and clinical markets. Currently, two of their tests—Influenza ONETest and Avian Influenza Environmental DNA ONETest—are gaining attention in the surveillance market in Canada and the EU. The AI eDNA ONETest is, to date, the only test capable of detecting and genotyping avian influenza from wetland sediments in wild bird habitats, substantiating our claims regarding high detection limits, sensitivity, and specificity. Our upcoming Hepatitis C test is similarly designed to provide significantly improved clinically actionable data in a single test. Additionally, we have a range of other tests, such as HPV, MDR/XDR Tuberculosis, multiplex blood screening, sepsis, and more.
