Gilead Sciences Appoints Former Sanofi Executive Dietmar Berger as Chief Medical Officer

Gelonghui December 13 | Gilead Sciences announced on Thursday that it has appointed Dietmar Berger, a former executive of Sanofi, as Chief Medical Officer to replace Merdad Parsey, who is preparing to leave early next year. Berger will join on January 2nd next year. He previously served as the Chief Medical Officer and Global Development Head of French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi, leading the company’s development science, strategy, and operations in key therapeutic areas. Berger joins Gilead at a time when the pharmaceutical company is increasing its focus on cancer treatments and drugs for inflammatory diseases. The company stated that Berger will be responsible for Gilead's virology, oncology, and inflammation portfolios and will oversee its global development and medical affairs organizations.
