EMA Confirms Mounjaro Can Treat Sleep Apnea Without Additional Indication

An expert panel of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the EU's drug regulatory authority, has determined thatEli Lilly(LLY.US)’s weight-loss drug Mounjaro treats obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) without requiring a separate indication.

Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) believes that the use of Mounjaro is covered by the approved weight management indication and does not require a separate indication for treating moderate to severe OSA in adult obese patients.

Mounjaro is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to treat uncontrolledIdealadults with type 2 diabetes. It is also used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help people who are obese or overweight and have weight-related health issues lose weight and manage their weight.

Eli Lilly and Company is also seeking approval in the U.S. for the drug to be used in patients with sleep apnea.
