Gilead Appoints Former Sanofi Global Development Head Dietmar Berger as New Chief Medical Officer

Recently, Gilead (GILD.US) announced that Dr. Dietmar Berger will join the company on January 2, 2025, succeeding Dr. Merdad Parsey as Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and will become a member of Gilead's senior leadership team.

Dietmar Berger, M.D., Ph.D., Who Is About to Join Gilead, is a Board-Certified Internist, Hematologist, and Oncologist with Over 25 Years of Extensive Experience in Developing and Delivering Innovative Medicines Across Multiple Therapeutic Areas. He Will Be Responsible for Gilead’s Leading Virology, Oncology, and Inflammation Pipeline Products and Will Oversee Gilead’s Global Development and Medical Affairs Organizations.

Before joining Gilead Sciences, Dr. Dietmar BergerSanofiAs CMO and Global Development Head, Dietmar Berger, M.D., Ph.D., is responsible for leading drug development science, strategy, and operations in Sanofi’s key therapeutic areas. Prior to joining Sanofi, Dr. Berger held positions at Atara, Genentech,BayerAndAmgenHave worked for multiple companies.
