On December 13, 2024, Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) announced a significant milestone:The first patient procedure using its next-generation PillCam Genius SB capsule endoscopy kit has been successfully completed at the University of Miami Health System (UHealth) HeH.This breakthrough marks another significant innovation by Medtronic in the field of gastrointestinal disease diagnosis. Medtronic received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this enhanced product in May this year.

PillCam capsule endoscopy technology has been used for over 20 years, providing countless patients with painless and non-invasive gastrointestinal examination solutions.By the end of 2021, Medtronic received FDA approval for the PillCam Small Bowel (SB) 3 system for remote endoscopy procedures.
