On December 20, CORXEL and Sanofi jointly announced the signing of a formal agreement, under which Sanofi will acquire the exclusive rights for the development and commercialization of aficamten in Greater China. The transaction is expected to be completed within 2024, with the transaction amount remaining undisclosed.Aficamten is a next-generation, investigational selective small molecule cardiac myosin inhibitor discovered and globally developed by Cytokinetics. In 2020, Cytokinetics granted CORXEL the exclusive rights for the development and commercialization of aficamten in Greater China. In October 2024, the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of the NMPA officially accepted the new drug marketing application for aficamten tablets for the treatment of symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) and designated it as a priority review product. In December, Cytokinetics announced that the FDA had accepted the New Drug Application (NDA) for aficamten for the treatment of oHCM, with a PDUFA date of September 26, 2025.In addition, the key Phase III clinical study ACACIA-HCM of aficamten for the treatment of symptomatic non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (nHCM) is currently underway.Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common hereditary cardiovascular disease. Due to limitations in early screening methods, the prevalence of HCM is likely underestimated. It is currently estimated to be at least 1 in 200. Clinically, obstructive (resting and latent) HCM accounts for approximately two-thirds, while non-obstructive HCM accounts for about one-third.
