Intelligent Finance News learned that the UK's cost-effectiveness watchdog for medicines, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), has officially recommended Eli Lilly and Company's (LLY.US) GLP-1 drug Tirzepatide as a weight-loss medication. The drug is marketed under the name Zepbound for weight loss and Moujaro for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Due to the anticipated high demand, NICE stated earlier in December that tirzepatide will be launched over a three-year period, with patients having the "greatest clinical need" gaining access to the drug first.
