Today (December 30),Huadong Medicine announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Huadong Medicine Co., Ltd., has reached a strategic cooperation with Synerk Pharmaceutical Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. ("Synerk").Both parties will jointly develop the small nucleic acid (siRNA) candidate drug SNK-2726 targeting Angiotensinogen (AGT)., used to treat hypertension.Huadong Medicine Obtains Exclusive Option for Development, Registration, Manufacturing, and Commercialization of the Drug in Greater China
SNK-2726, currently in the IND application preparation stage, is an siRNA drug developed by Synerk. According to the cooperation agreement, both parties will jointly advance the development of SNK-2726 to a certain stage. Meanwhile, Huadong Medicine will obtain an exclusive option and can pay an exercise fee in the future to acquire the exclusive rights for the development, registration, production, and commercialization of SNK-2726 in Greater China. After Huadong Medicine exercises the option, Synerk will be entitled to receive subsequent R&D milestone payments and sales milestone payments, as well as tiered royalties based on net sales after commercialization.
SNK-2726 is aSubcutaneously injectable RNAi drug targeting angiotensinogen (AGT) is being developed for the treatment of hypertension and is currently in the IND application preparation stage.AGT is the most upstream precursor in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). AGT in the blood circulation mainly comes from the liver. Inhibiting the production of AGT can effectively block the RAAS system and regulate blood pressure. Preclinical study results show that SNK-2726 can deeply inhibit the synthesis of AGT in the liver, with a long-lasting effect, leading to a sustained reduction in AGT protein, ultimately achieving the effect of lowering blood pressure.
