Gelonghux on January 2 | According to Pengpai, Eli Lilly China announced that the Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP)/Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist Tirzepatide (brand name: Mounjaro) has officially been launched in China, covering two indications, including Type 2 diabetes and weight loss. Mounjaro is currently available in four specifications in China, including 2.5 mg:0.5ml, 5 mg:0.5ml, 7.5 mg:0.5ml, and 10 mg:0.5ml. Mounjaro is the world’s first and currently the only once-weekly GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist approved for Type 2 diabetes and long-term weight management. The weight-loss version of Tirzepatide generated $3.018 billion in revenue in the first three quarters of 2024, placing it alongside Novo Nordisk's GLP-1 drug Semaglutide in the top tier of the global GLP-1 market.
