Shanghai, China, January 10, 2025——MSD (MSD is the trade name of Merck & Co., Inc., located in Rahway, New Jersey, USA) announced today that its Animal Health Division has developed a needle-free intradermal immunization vaccine for Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (recombinant baculovirus BacPCV2-Orf2 strain) (Brand name: Bao Zhu Li).®Yuan Le Da®) (hereinafter referred to as Yuanleda®) has recently been approved by China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for the prevention of diseases related to Porcine Circovirus Type 2 infection. It is the first needle-free intradermal immune vaccine to be successfully approved in China.
Needle-Free Intradermal Immunization Technology (IDAL)®) originated from MSD Animal Health's exploration of new immunization pathway technologies in Europe more than 30 years ago. By using electrically driven compressed air, along with specially developed intradermal vaccines, each dose requires only 0.2ml to present the vaccine’s antigen through dendritic cells in the dermal tissue, thereby stimulating the body's immune response and generating specific protective immunity against certain diseases.
Compared with traditional intramuscular immunization vaccines, needle-free intradermal immunization vaccines not only provide effective protection against specific diseases but also offer the following advantages: ①No risk of broken needles or injection abscesses, improving food safety and quality; ②Reduced risk of cross-infection from injection needles, enhancing biosecurity; ③Simple and convenient operation, improving labor efficiency; ④Reduced animal injection stress, enhancing the welfare of both personnel and animals; ⑤Environmentally friendly: Reducing cold chain storage space and the amount of waste generated.
Teng Feng, General Manager of Merck & Co., Inc. Animal Health ChinaMSD Animal Health adheres to the principle of "Science Makes Animals Healthier."TM' concept, has been committed to providing innovative and high-quality health care and technological products for farm animals and pets. We believe that Yuanleda®The approval and market launch will provide a brand-new circovirus solution for China, the world's largest pig farming market, to help customers improve swine health, enhance breeding efficiency, and ensure the stable supply of safe and high-quality pork products to Chinese consumers.
Yuan Le Da®Is MSD Animal Health IDAL®The first in the series to be registered in China as a needle-free intradermal immunization vaccine. MSD Animal Health will continue to develop and bring more IDAL products.®Vaccines are introduced in China, with a product portfolio based on biopharmaceuticals and technical solutions, supporting the Chinese pig farming industry and continuously improving the shared well-being of humans and animals.
