Recently,"Sci-Tech Innovation · Liuyehu" Synthetic Biology Manufacturing Innovation and Entrepreneurship CompetitionThe award ceremony was held in Changde, Hunan. Xbiome was honored for its research and application achievements in the pharmaceutical and broader health industries using synthetic biology technology to target the human gut microbiome.Best Technology Breakthrough Award。
Zhang Youming, academician of the German National Academy of Engineering, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and director of the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology at Shandong University, Xu Ping, expert in environmental and industrial microbiological technology and academician of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, attended the ceremony. Luo Yijun, secretary of the Changde Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, attended the event and delivered a speech, while Zhou Zhenyu, deputy secretary of the municipal committee and mayor, presided over the event.
This competition was guided by the State Development & Investment Corporation, the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology, and the Center for Synthetic and Systems Biology at Tsinghua University, and hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Changde Municipal People's Government. With the theme "Synthetic Biology: Creating and Leading the Future," it attracted enthusiastic participation from elite teams in synthetic biological manufacturing across China. At the preliminary stage, 108 projects were submitted, and ultimately, 50 projects advanced to the finals.
In the final stage, Xbiome presented on "The Application of Synthetic Biology in the Field of Health and Wellness," introducing the company's achievements in the research and development of treatment solutions for drugs, probiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Currently, Xbiome’s genetically engineered microbial drug pipeline based on synthetic biology technology, LBP01 (AUP1602-C), has received clinical trial approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and has entered Phase II clinical trials in China. This is the first genetically engineered microbial drug pipeline to receive clinical approval from the NMPA, utilizing cutting-edge technology to innovatively address the dilemma of balancing efficacy and cost control in current mainstream therapies. The innovative functional probiotic strain XA-1416,自主研发的, has entered the substantive examination stage for a patent application related to weight loss functionality. Xbiome's products currently cover application areas such as gut reconstruction, metabolic remodeling, mental regulation, bone health, and liver protection.
Based on the above achievements, Xbiome successfully won the Best Technology Breakthrough Award of this competition. Yang Jianbo, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the News Propaganda Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Tong Laisheng, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Liu Ping'an, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Health Commission, presented awards to the winning enterprises.
