Left Heart Passage Device Developer

In today's rapidly advancing medical technology landscape, innovative technologies continue to emerge, bringing more possibilities to clinical treatments. Atraverse Medical's Hotwire RF guidewire system stands out as one of the most exceptional innovations. Recently, Atraverse showcased the clinical evidence for the Hotwire system at the annual AF Symposium held from January 16 to 18, 2025, in Boston, USA, drawing significant attention.
Clinical Validation of the Hotwire System
At the AF Symposium in January 2025, Atraverse Medical showcased two posters detailing the preclinical studies and first-in-human clinical experience of the Hotwire system. One poster, presented by Devi Nair (St. Bernard Medical Center, Jonesboro, USA), was titled "First-in-Human Multicenter Experience Using a Novel Radiofrequency Transseptal Wire." The other poster, presented by Jeremiah Wasserlauf (Endeavor Health, Chicago, USA), was titled "Impedance-Based Energy Cutoff Reduces Overall Energy Duration During Radiofrequency-Powered Transseptal Puncture."
These study results indicate that the Hotwire system has demonstrated both strong safety and an efficient workflow in preclinical and first-in-human clinical trials. As the world’s first clinician to use Hotwire in practice, Dr. Nair highly praised its clinical performance, noting that the preclinical results successfully translated into the clinical setting, confirming its robust safety and efficient workflow.

The Innovation of Hotwire System
Hotwire System Designed to Enhance Procedural Efficiency and Streamline Workflow, Providing Innovation for Transseptal Left Heart Access Independent of Therapy. Since receiving U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in May 2024, the Hotwire device has been successfully utilized in over 130 procedures across China. As a novel radiofrequency guidewire, Hotwire enables a zero-exchange left heart access while serving as the rail for catheter-based therapeutic systems. Its universal sheath compatibility is designed to advance transseptal access techniques, optimize procedural workflows, and improve patient outcomes.
The innovation of the Hotwire system lies in its application of radiofrequency technology. By utilizing an impedance-based energy termination mechanism, Hotwire significantly reduces the overall duration of energy delivery during radiofrequency-powered atrial septal puncture, thereby decreasing surgical risks and enhancing the safety and efficiency of the procedure. This innovative technology not only streamlines the surgical process but also provides clinicians with a more convenient and reliable tool, contributing to improved success rates of surgeries and faster patient recovery.
Feedback from Clinicians
Dr. Nair, the first user of the Hotwire system, highly praised its clinical performance. He expressed that it was exciting to see the successful translation of Hotwire's preclinical results into a clinical setting. Early experiences confirmed its excellent safety and efficient workflow. Eric Sauter, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Atraverse Medical, Inc., and the original inventor of Hotwire technology, stated that they conducted continuous and rigorous biomedical research during the development of Hotwire to deliver a product that is safe, efficient, and easy to use. These findings validate their team’s execution and the market's demand for improved technology in this field.
Atraverse Medical's Hotwire RF Guidewire System Demonstrates Strong Safety and Efficient Workflow in Preclinical and First-in-Human Clinical Trials. Its Innovative RF Technology and Universal Sheath Compatibility Bring New Breakthroughs to Left Heart Access Techniques. With the Widespread Adoption of the Hotwire System, It Is Expected to Benefit More Patients and Advance the Development of Left Heart Access Technologies.
