Recently, Signet Therapeutics (hereinafter referred to as "Signet") signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Second People's Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University) to jointly promote new drug development and innovative medical methods. Signet will closely collaborate with Shenzhen Second People's Hospital.SIGNET's unique organoid model animal platform provides comprehensive drug discovery, drug testing research services, and scientific research services for its research team.。The achievement of this strategic cooperation will further integrate the resource advantages of both parties, accelerate the pace of innovative therapies moving from the laboratory to clinical applications, and bring more hope and possibilities to patients worldwide.
SIGNET, with its unique organoid disease model platform, uses 3D organoid disease models to precisely simulate patient tumor characteristics in vitro. Organoids are clusters of cells formed by 3D culturing of stem cells or organ cells in vitro, capable of highly reproducing the structure and function of real organs. SIGNET, throughCombining organoids with traditional animal models to fully integrate the dual advantages of conventional and cutting-edge technologies, providing more systematic, comprehensive, and efficient solutions for drug development and scientific research services.。
In recent years, organoid technology has demonstrated great application potential in multiple cutting-edge fields such as disease model construction, drug screening, and personalized treatment.SIGNET Takes the Lead Globally in Applying Organoid Technology to New Drug Development, is the world's first company to combine organoid technology with AI for the development of innovative targeted cancer drugs.Based on its unique organoid+AI platform, the company has successfully developed SIGX1094, the world's first targeted drug for diffuse gastric cancer, which has now entered Phase 1 clinical trials. In addition, the Signet Therapeutics Organoid Model Animal Center has provided high-quality organoid model animal-related services to multiple well-known pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, facilitating more new drug development processes and accelerating the clinical translation of innovative drugs.
About Shenzhen Second People's Hospital
Shenzhen Second People's Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University) was established in 1980 and became a national "Grade A, Class III" hospital in 1996, as one of the first two "Grade A, Class III" hospitals in Shenzhen. The hospital has successively received honorary titles such as "National Advanced Unit for Health," "National May Day Labor Medal," "Advanced Collective of the Shenzhen Universiade," and "Demonstration Hospital for Improving Medical Services." In 2022, the Medical Innovation Technology Transformation Center of Shenzhen Second People's Hospital was established in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone in Futian; in the same year, it was selected as a demonstration hospital for reform and high-quality development of public hospitals in Guangdong Province. From 2018 to 2022, it ranked A+ for five consecutive years in the performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals in China, ranking 70th nationwide in 2022, firmly placing it among the top 100 hospitals in China.
About SIGNET
Signet Therapeutics is the first biotech company in China to develop innovative targeted cancer drugs based on organoid disease models and AI. It was initially founded on the Harvard University campus and established its presence in Shenzhen by the end of 2020, securing nearly 220 million yuan in funding and project support. The company currently has four drug pipelines, with the lead pipeline developing SIGX1094, the world’s first targeted drug for diffuse gastric cancer. SIGX1094 has received IND approval from both the U.S. FDA and China's NMPA, as well as Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA, and has now entered Phase I clinical trials.
SIGNET is not only the phonetic translation of Signet but also adheres to the vision of "full of hope, investigating things to acquire knowledge." The company leverages the critical role of organoid disease models that closely resemble patients' genomic characteristics in drug efficacy evaluation and novel target discovery. Combined with AI-powered screening, synthesis, and optimization of small-molecule compounds, SIGNET develops first-in-class innovative targeted drugs. The company has a 1200㎡ R&D facility and a 500㎡ experimental animal housing area. SIGNET's organoid platform not only serves its own drug pipeline but also actively empowers large pharmaceutical companies in new drug development. Collaborative partners include the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen BioRay Pharma, and Genuine Biotech, contributing to the birth of more innovative drugs.
