In a rapidly changing policy and market environment, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals China announces two key personnel appointments to achieve its mid-term strategic goals, driving structural adjustments.
Mr. Chen Jian Takes Office, Leading Diversified Businesses
Starting from March 1, 2025, Mr. Jian Chen will serve as the Head of Commercial Operations and Innovation Diversity and will be appointed as the General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Over the past four years, Mr. Jian Chen has achieved remarkable results in the oncology business, leading to a 1.6-fold increase in growth and achieving multiple milestones. Products like Dacogen® and Erleada® have experienced double-digit growth for several consecutive years, ranking first in market share in the fields of multiple myeloma and metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). The Erleada® business also ranked first in contribution within the Asia-Pacific region. He has also emphasized talent and capability development, laying a solid foundation for Johnson & Johnson's oncology business in China.
Under the new appointment, Mr. Chen Jian will form and lead a team to comprehensively develop and implement Johnson & Johnson's winning strategy for its innovative pharmaceuticals sector in China.Focus on four key directions: maximizing access opportunities for existing and future innovative products; building an ecosystem for government affairs and key disease areas; expanding diversified growth; promoting and establishing innovative business models. The workplace remains in Beijing, reporting directly to the president of Johnson & Johnson’s Innovative Pharmaceutical Division in China. Several leaders will also report directly to Mr. Chen Jian.
Sévan Kaloustian Appointed as Vice President and Head of Oncology Business
Sévan Kaloustian Appointed as Vice President of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals China and Head of the Oncology Business Unit, Reporting to Cherry Huang, President of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals China. Sévan will serve as a core member of the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals China leadership team, responsible for the overall business strategy formulation and operational management of the Oncology Business Unit.
He currently serves as the Managing Director for the JENA (Jordan, Egypt, and North Africa) region. Since June 2022, he has been leading one of the fastest-growing regions within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) emerging markets, launching several key initiatives. Previously, he held various regional and functional roles with extensive experience, holding a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and a Master’s degree in Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Montreal, Canada. Sévan will soon relocate to Beijing with his family and begin the handover process with Mr. Chen Jian starting in March.
