On February 12, AbbVie and Xilio Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company discovering and developing tumor-activated immune ecosystem therapies for cancer patients, announced a collaboration and option licensing agreement to utilize Xilio's proprietary technology to develop novel tumor-activated antibody immunotherapies, including masked T-cell engagers.Adhesive(masked T-cell engagers). In addition, Xilio announced three preclinical T-cell engager programs targeting tumor-associated antigens PSMA, CLDN18.2, and STEAP1.Under the terms of the agreement, Xilio will receive an upfront payment of $52 million, including $10 million in equity investment, and is eligible to receive up to approximately $2.1 billion in option-related fees and milestones, plus contingent payments totaling tiered royalties.
Xilio Therapeutics, Inc. has developed a proprietary, clinically validated tumor-activating biologics platform technology. The company is advancing a series of novel clinical and preclinical immunotherapies, including masked multispecific molecules designed to achieve tumor-selective activation by leveraging masking and other unique components optimized for specific targets. This allows for focused activity within the tumor microenvironment to minimize systemic adverse events.Theodora S. Ross, M.D., Ph.D., Vice President of Early Oncology Research and Development at AbbVie, stated:"AbbVie is committed to expanding our R&D efforts in the field of oncology. This includes researching new approaches to immunotherapy with the aim of providing improved next-generation cancer treatments for patients in need. Our collaboration with the Xilio team further demonstrates our commitment."Uli Bialucha, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer of Xilio Therapeutics, Inc., said:"The collaboration with AbbVie, a global leader in the development and commercialization of oncology therapies, enables us to accelerate the expansion of our technology into next-generation immunotherapies, including T-cell engagers. We look forward to working with the AbbVie team through our innovativeMaskingT-cell engager format, combining our deep protein engineering expertise with tumor-selective activation."Follow the official account below to explore the world with you!
