On February 13, 2025, Baheal Medical, a leading commercialization enterprise in China's A-share pharmaceutical industry, announced that it had signed a commercialization cooperation agreement with Roche Pharma China. Baheal Medical has obtained the exclusive marketing rights for Roche's oncology targeted drug MabThera (generic name: rituximab) in mainland China.This drug is mainly used to treat diseases such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and was approved for marketing in China in April 2000.Roche Pharma, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, generated revenue of $66.4 billion (CHF 60.5 billion) last year, ranking second globally behind Johnson & Johnson. As an innovation-driven global biotechnology company, Roche has a portfolio of differentiated drugs in oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, ophthalmology, and neuroscience.
The rituximab injection (brand name: MabThera®) involved in this collaboration is the world's first monoclonal antibody originally developed by Roche that specifically targets the CD20 antigen. It is also the world’s first monoclonal antibody for anti-tumor treatment, benefiting more than 6.8 million patients globally over the past 20 years since its market launch.MabThera® was registered and launched in the United States in 1997, approved for marketing in China in April 2000, and included in the National Medical Insurance Drug List in July 2017. The indications approved in China are non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
According to the agreement, Baheal Medical should always make its best efforts to provide promotional services for the product to enhance medical information exchange, achieve successful commercialization of the product, and expand patient access within the region.The agreement is valid until December 31, 2027, unless terminated early in accordance with the provisions of this agreement.
