From March 23 to 24, the annual meeting of the China Development Forum 2025 was held in Beijing. During the meeting, Geoff Martha, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medtronic, stated that Medtronic firmly believes China will become the world's largest medical market and an important source of innovation. It will also serve as a strategic hub for medical innovation, investment, and collaboration. Medtronic looks forward to partnering with more industry collaborators to jointly promote the development of new quality productivity, advance medical innovation, and improve patient outcomes.
Jeff Massa said, "In 2025, Medtronic's development in China will enter its 36th year. Considering China’s demographic structure, growing healthcare needs, and the broader trends of China’s economic development, the potential of China's healthcare market is undoubtedly enormous."
He stated that Medtronic was one of the first multinational medical technology companies to enter China. In 1989, Medtronic established its first office in Shanghai. In 2011, Medtronic's Greater China headquarters was located in the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park in Shanghai. Currently, Medtronic has approximately 6,000 employees and 12 regional offices in China, covering four major medical fields: cardiovascular, surgical and critical care, neuroscience, and diabetes. It has built a full value chain layout including R&D, production, sales, training, after-sales service, and investment funds. This includes 1 R&D center, 2 innovation centers, and 5 major production bases, providing a solid foundation for the company’s long-term localized development in China.
