Cardiac Surgery Implantable Medical Device R&D Provider

Recently, Yellwin announced the completion of a multi-million yuan A++ round of financing. This round of financing will mainly be used in two directions: First, to further the research and development of innovative devices for the full-process treatment of coronary heart disease and new products such as the pulsatile left ventricular assist system; second, to accelerate the market promotion of already approved products like the cardiac stabilizer. Empowered by this round of financing, Yellwin will comprehensively strengthen its R&D innovation and market penetration capabilities in the cardiovascular field, continuously consolidating its leading position in technology.
Yellwin was founded in September 2021 by the cardiac surgery team from Anzhen Hospital and senior executives from the medical device industry. It has assembled a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical medicine, medical device hardware, and AI algorithms. Based on the founding team’s extensive clinical experience in cardiac surgery, the company identifies clinical needs and, considering the current state of relevant fields, develops various medical devices including a new-generation heart stabilizer, vascular anastomosis quality control system, and coronary artery disease scoring system—all of which are either domestic firsts or fill market gaps in China. The company owns more than 50 patents globally and domestically, and is recognized as a national high-tech enterprise and a specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative enterprise.
According to incomplete statistics from the "White Paper on Cardiovascular Surgical Operations and Extracorporeal Circulation Data in China," the volume of cardiovascular surgeries in China increased by approximately 29.8% in 2023, with the number of extracorporeal circulation procedures rising over 26%. Among the subfields, coronary artery bypass surgeries saw an increase of about 30%, leading the growth. However, this field has long been constrained by challenges such as the concentration of surgical resources and the low level of domestic production of medical devices, with foreign companies like Medtronic and Maquet dominating the market.
Yellwin's team, based on years of frontline cardiothoracic surgical diagnosis and treatment experience, boldly innovates by addressing the pain points exposed by imported devices in China's clinical settings and focusing on real clinical needs. They have developed a new generation of high-end coronary surgery instruments, including a series of cardiac stabilizers, bridge vessel flow meters, a novel proximal anastomosis system, and a minimally invasive saphenous vein harvesting system, achieving full-process coverage of instruments in the field of coronary surgery. In response to the trend of severe illness and complex surgeries among Chinese patients, the team has simultaneously developed several innovative devices for preoperative assessment and critical surgery assistance, such as the intelligent SYNTAX scoring system, pulsatile left ventricular assist devices, and femoral artery-vein cannulas. These provide Chinese cardiothoracic surgeons with localized solutions covering preoperative evaluation to intraoperative support, offering a Chinese solution for treating severe heart conditions in an aging society. With a precise grasp of clinical needs, Yellwin has established a dual-wheel development model of "clinical validation-driven innovation and commercial transformation reinvesting in R&D." The company employs a strategy of "moderately forward-looking R&D and tiered commercial transformation," balancing both R&D and commercialization. Its core product, the cardiac stabilizer series, has covered nearly 80% of cardiac surgery centers across China within just one year of obtaining certification.
Professor Yu Yang, Chief Scientist of Yellwin, stated: "Originating from clinical practice, surpassing clinical practice, and returning to clinical practice" is the core concept of Yellwin's product development. To implement this concept, we have made product improvements targeting the shortcomings of existing devices, leading to the creation of multiple products such as the Yellwin heart stabilizer and proximal anastomosis system. On the other hand, we are accelerating progress in the field of domestic alternatives, developing China’s first domestically produced vascular anastomosis quality control system and femoral artery-vein cannulae. Additionally, to align with the trends towards minimally invasive procedures and critical care, we have developed the world's first high-flow, pulsatile percutaneous left ventricular assist system that operates without DSA assistance. In the future, we will also develop multiple groundbreaking innovative devices, such as a minimally invasive small vessel anastomosis system, ensuring that Yellwin becomes a company that can both stand firm and go far.
