On August 18, 2023, pharmaceutical company Lupin announced that it had acquired the diabetes brands Ondero (linagliptin) and Ondero Met (linagliptin and metformin) from Boehringer Ingelheim for €26 million (INR 2.35 billion), including the trademark rights associated with these brands, in an all-cash transaction. Lupin stated that this acquisition is expected to add value to the company's diabetes portfolio. As part of a co-marketing agreement with Boehringer Ingelheim India, Lupin has been selling Ondero and Ondero Met in the Indian market since 2015.
 
India's pharmaceutical industry is dominated by generic drugs, with 90% of companies primarily engaged in the production of generics. In early March, Granules announced that it would acquire Swiss CDMO company Senn Chemicals for $22 million, officially entering the peptide therapeutics market. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of this year. Granules stated in a press release that Senn Chemicals possesses deep expertise and a mature technology platform in the fields of Liquid Phase Peptide Synthesis (LPPS) and Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS), and this acquisition will provide strong support for Granules to quickly enter the peptide therapeutics market.
 
In July 2024, Mankind Pharma acquired all shares of biopharmaceutical company Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV) for $1.63 billion to strengthen its market position in women's health and fertility and gain access to high-barrier products in the critical care field.
