Medtronic China's Lin Song Leverages CICTE Expo Momentum to Accelerate Launch of Innovative Cardiovascular Products

"This year at the Consumer Expo, we have brought four innovative star products from Medtronic in the field of cardiovascular medicine," said Lin Song, Vice President of Cardiac Rhythm Management, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Ablation Business at Medtronic China, and Head of the Shared Functional Department for Cardiovascular Business in China. On April 14th, at the Lecheng booth of the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo, many participants took photos with the world's smallest leadless pacemaker, Micra.

Medtronic, a medical technology company from the United States, has been deeply engaged in the cardiovascular healthcare field for many years. At this year's Consumer Expo, Medtronic showcased several innovative medical devices, including the Aurora EV-ICD extravascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator, Micra leadless pacemaker, Penditure left atrial appendage closure system, and Evolut FX+ transcatheter aortic valve system.

Among them, the Evolut FX+ Transcatheter Aortic Valve System is the latest generation of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR therapy) product globally, used for treating severe aortic stenosis. The system received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 2024. This product features the world's first large-window design, with a window size four times larger than previous designs, providing more space for future coronary intervention catheter operations in the treatment of coronary heart disease, reserving an interventional pathway in advance, and committing to the lifelong management of patients with aortic stenosis.

This is not Medtronic's first participation in the Consumer Expo. At the 4th Consumer Expo, Medtronic also showcased several innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices. "The Consumer Expo and Lecheng Pilot Zone are not only 'accelerators' for Medtronic product launches but also important partners in promoting healthcare innovation in China," said Lin Song. He noted that Boao Lecheng is China's only "medical special zone" and has unique advantages in areas such as special access for innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices, real-world data applications, and the introduction of international medical resources. "We will ride the 'east wind' of the Consumer Expo to accelerate the landing of new products, benefiting more patients in China," Lin Song revealed. In the future, Medtronic's cardiovascular team will continue to rely on the innovative policies of "pilot trials" in Boao to successively introduce globally newly launched innovative products and therapies to Lecheng, bringing the world's most advanced medical technology to the Chinese market more rapidly. Meanwhile, Medtronic will also actively explore and carry out work in areas such as clinical research, academic exchange, medical-engineering collaboration, international cooperation, and achievement transformation in Lecheng, together with industry associations and top medical institutions.
