Recently, the National Science and Technology Major Project for the Four Major Chronic Diseases"Research on the Creation and Clinical Evaluation of an Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Prevention System for Primary Liver Cancer"Officially approved by the National Health Commission of China; in the project, the Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, Xbiome Co. Ltd., and Inner Mongolia Furui Medical Technology Co., Ltd. will conduct exploratory research on the topic of using intestinal microbiota regulation combined with traditional Chinese medicine to improve symptoms and reduce the risk of liver cancer, and develop comprehensive clinical intervention strategies.

On April 20, the project launch ceremony was held at the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital.Academician Wang Fusheng, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Fifth Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, Li Tiejun, Director of the Fifth Medical Center, Lu Yinying, Director of the Department of Hepatology at the Fifth Medical Center, Zhang Shutian, President of Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, Du Qingfeng, President of the Integrative Medicine Hospital of Southern Medical University, Li Jie, President of Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and other leaders and experts, as well as Hu Han, Ph.D., Co-founder and Chief Bioinformatics Scientist of Xbiome, attended the launch ceremony to jointly announce the official start of the project. Academician Wang Qi, Dean of the National Institute of Chinese Medicine Constitution and Preventive Treatment at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, delivered an online speech regarding the project and the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in liver disease diagnosis and treatment. The project targets major diseases, adhering to the principle of equal emphasis on traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, to construct a "Chinese solution" for chronic disease prevention and treatment, promoting the construction of new productive forces in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine and the innovative development of hepatology.

"Research on the Creation and Clinical Evaluation of an Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Prevention System for Primary Liver Cancer"

"Exploratory Research on the Reduction of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Risk through Gut Microecological Modulation Combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Development of Clinical Comprehensive Intervention Strategies" is one of the sub-projects under this project; the study will focus on high-risk populations with hepatitis B-related cirrhosis.Conduct a clinical exploratory study on fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) combined with compound turtle shell soft liver tablets to verify the synergistic effect of intestinal microecological regulation combined with traditional Chinese medicine in blocking the carcinogenesis process of hepatitis B cirrhosis.Ultimately, by integrating the results of other sub-projects, a comprehensive TCM-Western medicine combined liver cancer intervention strategy was formed, which includes the identification of high-risk populations, assessment of canceration risks, stratified monitoring at different risk levels, precise diagnosis and treatment plans (cause blocking + effective prescriptions + distinctive technologies), and scientific evaluation. In the project,Xbiome is responsible for the construction of the FMT donor selection system, the maintenance of the donor bank, and the provision of bacterial solutions, assisting in the development of clinical research.

Dr. Han Hu, Co-founder and Chief Bioinformatics Scientist of XbiomeIntroduction: Xbiome is honored to be a participating unit in the major project on the four major chronic diseases, collaborating with top clinical experts and teams in China, such as Director Lu Yinying, and outstanding biopharmaceutical enterprises. Together, they are building a donor-recipient matching system, providing FMT bacterial solutions, and participating in program design, jointly tackling the development of an integrated Chinese-Western "China Solution" for liver cancer prevention and treatment.

Xbiome's AI-driven matching algorithm provides precise intestinal flora matching for donors and patients, and identifies the "optimal donor" from Xbiome’s strictly managed and leading-scale donor bank to maximize the effectiveness of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Additionally, Xbiome possesses an FMT production system that complies with GMP and cGMP standards, including comprehensive pathogenic bacteria screening, a fully anaerobic production environment, and a strict testing and release system, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, technologically advanced transplantation products to hospitals and enrolled patients.

It is reported that, according to the implementation plan of the National Science and Technology Major Project for the Prevention and Treatment Research of Cancer, Cardio-cerebrovascular Diseases, Respiratory Diseases, and Metabolic Diseases (i.e., the Major Project for Four Major Chronic Diseases), a total of 71 key research directions have been initiated in 2024, focusing on related pathogenic mechanisms, prevention and screening technologies, clinical diagnosis and treatment, demonstration and promotion, and other aspects for research and breakthroughs.
