RNA Innovative Drug Developer

On April 17-18, the 9th IGC 2025 Immuno-Gene & Cell Therapy Conference was successfully held in Beijing.Dr. Li Wei, Senior VP of NeoCura, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the conference.
This conference brought together more than 120 authoritative experts from regulatory, clinical, and corporate fields to engage in in-depth discussions on hot topics such as cutting-edge technologies, research and development and transformation, clinical progress, advanced processes, and domestic and international submission strategies in the field of immune gene and cell therapy. They analyzed technical challenges and key issues to jointly promote industry development.

Dr. Li Wei Delivers Keynote Speech

In "mRNA Vaccines and DrugsDr. Li Wei delivered a speech titled "AI-Powered mRNA Personalized Cancer Vaccine Sequence Design and Clinical Progress".He introduced that the feasibility, safety, and large-scale production capacity of mRNA technology have been preliminarily verified in recent years. With these advantages, its application scope continues to expand, especially in the field of tumor immunotherapy, where tumor vaccines based on mRNA technology have made remarkable substantive progress. As the core driving force, AI technology has played an irreplaceable and crucial role.
Dr. Li Wei pointed out that the application of AI technology in the research and development of mRNA tumor vaccines covers several key aspects, including the screening of tumor neoantigens, optimization of mRNA sequences, and vector optimization. Among these, the screening of tumor neoantigens is the crucial aspect of mRNA tumor vaccine development.
Therefore, NeoCura has built a multi-omics platform based on AI technology to achieve data standardization, utilized its self-developed and independently owned NeoCura AI ALPINE neoantigen prediction platform to screen high-quality neoantigens, and accelerated algorithm iteration and upgrading through a combination of dry and wet lab experiments, continuously improving the accuracy of neoantigen prediction.
Not only that,NeoCura's AI technology platform can assist in RNA sequence optimization and delivery system screening based on protein expression requirements. The algorithm has currently been applied to the design process of mRNA's 5'UTR, CDS, and 3'UTR. Compared with the initial sequence, the expression efficiency of the optimized mRNA molecules has been significantly improved.
We have also built an intelligent LNP screening system that uses machine learning to deeply analyze screening data, guiding the selection of LNP carriers with higher transfection efficiency and better biocompatibility, continuously optimizing the delivery effectiveness of mRNA tumor vaccines.
Driven by the innovation of AI technology, Moderna announced this year that it is expected to launch the world's first mRNA cancer vaccine by 2027. In the Phase II clinical trial targeting melanoma, the vaccine, when used in combination with Keytruda, reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 44%. Currently, three Phase III clinical trials are being conducted simultaneously.

Dr. Li Wei's Speech at the Scene

At the same time, the Phase I clinical trial results released in February by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center showed that the mRNA neoantigen vaccine BNT122 could continuously reduce the risk of disease recurrence in patients with surgically resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The recurrence risk in responding patients was reduced by 86% compared to non-responders. Notably, after a single booster vaccination, the relapse-free survival period of the patients was significantly extended, greatly surpassing the protection period of traditional therapies.
In recent years, China's drug regulatory authorities, with forward-looking strategic vision and pragmatic policy measures, have introduced a series of targeted and high-value policies, injecting strong momentum into the research and development of tumor vaccines.
Guided by national policies, multiple biopharmaceutical companies have made rapid progress, achieving a swift transition from technological breakthroughs to clinical value transformation.NeoCura's IND application for its self-developed mRNA personalized tumor neoantigen vaccine, which relies on AI technology, has been officially accepted by the CDE, bringing new hope and vitality to cancer patients.
The wave of deep integration between AI and RNA is surging. Riding this wave, NeoCura will continue to implement the AI + RNA innovative drug R&D model, fully accelerating the clinical translation of mRNA tumor vaccines to provide patients with more effective and accessible biologic innovations as soon as possible, addressing unmet clinical needs.
