During the speech, Academician Weinan E pointed out that platform-based research and teaching represent the future trend, and this forum is of great significance. He hoped everyone would engage in in-depth discussions on the specific approaches and challenges of platform-based education and research during the conference to effectively advance the work.
Zhao Xin elaborated on the significance of the paradigm of large-scale scientific research in light of his own work experience during his speech, emphasizing that platform-based research and teaching integrate various scientific research concepts, which is of great importance to the development of the school. He also expressed that all departments of the school will fully support the construction of the Artificial Intelligence College.
Keynote Report Session: Wang Yanfeng gave a speech entitled "Embracing the Era of Mega-Science: Thoughts and Explorations on an Integrated Scientific Research Platform," providing an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges in the era of mega-science. He mentioned that AI for Science has reshaped the global scientific research paradigm, and top universities should align with the trends of this transformative era, respond to national calls, and actively lead the development of teaching and research systems amid the fourth technological revolution. To address structural challenges faced by universities in areas such as talent cultivation and industry demand, R&D and industrialization, and resource utilization, the School of Artificial Intelligence aims to build a super lab. It is working in collaboration with the university’s library, computing center, and analytical testing center to explore and establish an integrated scientific research platform, offering one-stop services for the entire research process, including surveying, computational modeling, experimental testing, and communication support.
Zhang Linfeng gave a report titled "Exploration of Technical Pathways for Achieving Platform-based Scientific Research and Teaching"。He combined his own experience and used DP Technology's exploration in the AI4S field as a case study to summarize the bottleneck factors in the innovation implementation process, such as talent cultivation and hardware scheduling: "As application demands deepen, the actual problem we need to solve is, in fact, an integrated intelligent space for science and education. The goal is to consolidate the needs of the scientific research, science education, and science chain onto one platform and provide infrastructure with more efficient tool support." The "Bohr® Space Station" currently being built by DP Technology not only fully addresses the pain points of AI computing and establishes scientific navigation to extract the essence of literature but also further explores the realization of scientific intelligence entities, promoting the arrival of the 'Big Scientific Research Era.'
