In recent years, obesity has become a major public health challenge in China. However, the public lacks sufficient awareness of scientific weight management and urgently needs personalized obesity management solutions, along with support in nutrition, exercise, medical treatment, psychology, and other aspects. Facing this complex prevention and control challenge requires collaborative efforts across different sectors of society to resolve the management dilemma. In June last year, the National Health Commission launched a three-year "Weight Management Year" special campaign, explicitly stating that digital technology should drive the innovation of management models.

In this collaboration, the two parties will establish an "Obesity Education Zone" based on Ping An Healthcare's digital ecosystem to build a full-chain weight management pathway. Users can download the Ping An Healthcare App, enter "Health Care," and proceed to the "Obesity Education Zone." They can use the "Health Self-Assessment" tool within the zone to calculate their BMI, quickly completing a weight status classification and potential health risk screening. The zone will integrate diverse content such as graphic information and educational videos to vividly disseminate knowledge about the dangers of obesity and scientifically-backed weight loss methods. At the same time, the zone will link directly to weight management service outlets. After users complete their health assessment, they can directly search for partner institutions and pharmacies in their city, achieving seamless integration throughout the entire process from "health self-assessment, knowledge acquisition to intervention management." In the future, Novo Nordisk and Ping An Healthcare will leverage their respective strengths to jointly explore digital and intelligent weight management, helping obese patients achieve long-term weight control.
Zhou Xiaping, Global Senior Vice President of Novo Nordisk and President of Greater China, stated: "As a leading internet healthcare, health, and elderly care platform in China, Ping An Healthcare boasts a comprehensive patient service network, service system, and resource support. Driven by national policies that continue to emphasize obesity prevention and control as well as the deepening of public health literacy, we are delighted to initiate a strategic cooperation with Ping An Healthcare based on our shared philosophy of ‘patient-centeredness.’ By integrating high-quality resources, we aim to raise awareness about obesity prevention, enhance residents' health literacy, address the 'big challenge' of chronic disease prevention through the 'small entry point' of weight management, and contribute to the construction of 'Healthy China 2030.'"
Ping An Healthcare Chairman and CEO Dou Li stated: "As a pioneer and leader in the global obesity treatment field, Novo Nordisk has laid a solid professional foundation for this collaboration with its deep expertise and innovation-driven approach. As the flagship of Ping An Group's healthcare and elderly care ecosystem, Ping An Healthcare is committed to building a professional bridge between doctors and patients, connecting high-quality medical resources with a broad demand market, and providing users with high-quality, one-stop medical, health, and elderly care services. We highly anticipate the future of our in-depth cooperation with Novo Nordisk, and believe it will certainly address the chronic disease challenges faced by more patients with obesity."
This strategic cooperation is an innovative initiative by both parties to actively respond to the national weight management policies. Relying on the dual drivers of policy support and technological innovation, it will establish a full-process management system from awareness to diagnosis and treatment, create a new model for obesity management services, and promote the improvement of nationwide healthy weight management levels in China.
