No need to implant microelectrodes in the brain, and with non-invasive brain-computer interface technology, one can control a bionic hand to play musical instruments or paint just by thought—such a sci-fi scenario is gradually becoming a reality.

On May 30, BrainCo officially launched the first brain-computer science innovation demonstration center established in China in Wuxi.

Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Du Xiaogang held talks with Han Bicheng, founder of BrainCo, and He Xiyujin, partner. Vice Mayors Zhou Wendong and Lu Min, and responsible comrades from Liangxi District attended the launch ceremony.

During the talks, both parties expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping highly values fundamental research and original innovation in brain science. He emphasized the need to target this frontier field by proactively deploying a number of strategic and reserve technology research and development projects to seize the commanding heights of future technological and industrial development.

Next, the two parties will simultaneously plan and accelerate the construction of a research and development and production base for brain-computer interface products, promoting the rapid transformation and application of the company's advanced technologies in Wuxi. Together, they will make greater contributions to achieving breakthroughs in core foundational fields crucial to China's national development.

Wuxi City and BrainCo have reached a strategic cooperation, using Liangxi District and Liangxi Technology City as fulcrums to jointly build the Wuxi Brain-Computer Science Innovation Demonstration Center.

The center, with a planned construction area of nearly 2,000 square meters, integrates "production, learning, research, education, and competition." It will focus on directions such as "brain-computer intelligent technology R&D," "medical rehabilitation scenario expansion," and "embodied intelligence human-computer interaction" to explore innovative applications and achievements transformation of non-invasive brain-computer interface technology in fields like smart healthcare, intelligent disability assistance, and smart rehabilitation education. It aims to create China's first immersive experience space for brain-computer interface cutting-edge technology.

He Xiyujin stated that BrainCo is actively promoting high-quality enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain to take root in Liangxi Science and Technology City, better supporting the development of Wuxi's brain-computer interface industry.

BrainCo was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective for Disability Work in China" at the seventh national conference for self-improvement models and advanced disability assistance. Several brain-computer interface application scenarios developed by the company, such as the intelligent bionic hand, intelligent bionic leg, and brain-computer interface system, have been implemented in Wuxi City.

In March this year, Wuxi City recruited the first batch of 10 leg-amputated disabled individuals, and provided them with the lightweight Ling M3 intelligent bionic legs developed by BrainCo, free of charge. The initiative received positive feedback for its safety, stability, and reliability.

On site, Liangxi District and Liangxi Technology City also reached a cooperation agreement with BrainCo on innovative educational application scenarios for children's brain science and brain-computer interface, focusing on three aspects: autism rehabilitation, attention improvement, and organizing brain science and technology competitions, utilizing brain science to rapidly enhance students' concentration and creativity.

In the future, the two parties will join hands to explore the deep integration of "artificial intelligence + brain-computer interface technology + people's livelihood," and jointly promote cooperation in the fields of smart health care, technological assistance for the disabled, and children's growth, using technological power to facilitate the construction of Wuxi as an all-age friendly city.
