Intelligent Finance APP learned that AstraZeneca (AZN.US) recently announced positive results from the DESTINY-Breast09 Phase 3 study, showing that for first-line treatment of HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer patients, the combination of trastuzumab deruxtecan and pertuzumab demonstrated highly statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in progression-free survival (PFS) compared with the current first-line standard treatment regimen THP (taxanes combined with trastuzumab and pertuzumab). The DESTINY-Breast09 Phase 3 research findings were presented as a late-breaking oral abstract at the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting.

Trastuzumab Deruxtecan is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting HER2, jointly developed and commercialized by Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca. Based on the results of the DESTINY-Breast03 trial, trastuzumab deruxtecan has been approved in more than 80 countries worldwide for second-line treatment of patients with HER2-positive breast cancer.
