China Finance and Economics News, June 16th: Today, Novo Nordisk and AliHealth announced a strategic partnership.
Against the backdrop of China's continuous promotion of the "Weight Management Year" campaign, the two parties will rely on Novo Nordisk's over a century of profound expertise and innovative treatment solutions in the field of chronic diseases, as well as AliHealth's innovative business model in the internet healthcare sector, to jointly create a one-stop weight management knowledge and service zone. This initiative aims to help the public understand healthy weight standards, master weight management methods, scientifically manage weight, and facilitate the digital transformation and upgrading of one-stop diabetes diagnosis and treatment along with chronic disease management.

Data shows that China currently has approximately 148 million diabetes patients and about 180 million adults suffering from obesity, with the prevalence rate continuing to rise. The public's understanding of the health issues caused by diabetes and obesity, as well as professional diagnosis and treatment information, remains insufficient. If obesity patients attempt weight loss on their own, improper methods, delayed diagnosis, and untimely treatment may lead to more severe health problems.

A one-stop weight management knowledge and service zone jointly created by AliHealth and Novo Nordisk will deeply integrate the advantageous resources of both parties to provide patients with a smart healthcare solution that incorporates disease education, healthy weight assessment, online appointment booking, and other functions. This initiative aims to help obese individuals receive early diagnosis and treatment while scientifically managing their weight. Meanwhile, in the field of diabetes, digital technologies such as medical big data analysis and AI-assisted diagnosis systems will be utilized to offer patients a full-cycle smart healthcare solution covering "prevention–diagnosis and treatment–management," achieving fully digitalized services from online consultation to medicine delivery.
Zhou Xiaping, Global Senior Vice President of Novo Nordisk and President of Greater China Region, stated that digital innovation injects new momentum into chronic disease management and provides strong support for improving public health literacy. "We are delighted to partner with AliHealth, fully leveraging the strengths of both parties to jointly create a smart healthcare solution covering the entire life cycle, enhancing awareness of obesity and diabetes among all stakeholders, embedding the concept of early screening, early diagnosis, and early treatment deeply in people's minds, and integrating scientific weight management into daily life. We look forward to weaving a tight 'protection net' for chronic diseases with digital power, contributing to the realization of the goals set out in the 'Healthy China 2030' Plan Outline."
AliHealth's Executive Director and CEO, Shen Difan, stated that the Chinese government’s implementation of the "Weight Management Year" initiative and promotion of healthy lifestyles have gradually increased public awareness of obesity and chronic metabolic diseases such as diabetes. "Scientific weight management requires a long-term process to achieve better metabolic benefits. In this process, it is crucial to adopt more efficient and standardized management models to address the current challenges of high incidence, prevalence, and difficulty in prevention and control of chronic diseases. AliHealth has long been committed to chronic disease management, leveraging insights from hundreds of millions of users and professional user understanding, supported by leading digital technology and operational capabilities, to provide users with scientific and personalized solutions. In the future, AliHealth will collaborate with Novo Nordisk to jointly drive innovative exploration in diabetes and obesity management under the 'Internet + Health Care' model."
