On June 22, 2025, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission reported that Yu Wenming, the former director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is suspected of serious official misconduct and is currently under investigation by the National Supervisory Commission.

Yu Wenming, born in June 1963, is from Shan County, Shandong Province. He is a member of the Agrarian Labor Democratic Party, participated in work in August 1988, has a postgraduate degree, and holds a Master’s degree in Medicine. Below is his resume:
August 1985: Graduated from the Traditional Chinese Medicine program at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
August 1988: Graduated with a master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, then joined the China Traditional Chinese Medicine News, serving successively as a reporter, editor, and head/deputy director of the Herbal Medicine and Communications Department.
1997-2004: Director of the China Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Development and Exchange Center.
April 2004 - June 2018: Deputy Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

June 2018 - July 2023: Served as the Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
December 2020 to present: President of the Seventh Council of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Yu Wenming has深耕in the field of traditional Chinese medicine for many years. He should have used his professional knowledge and position to promote the healthy development of the TCM cause, but he is suspected of serious job-related violations, which is really regrettable. His downfall once again demonstrates China's determination to fight corruption, and also reminds us that no matter what position we are in, we should always maintain integrity and perform our duties according to law.
