Hansoh Pharma Initiates Phase III Trial of GLP-1/GIP Dual Agonist HS-20094 in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

2025Year August28Day，The Chinese Drug Clinical Trial Registry and Information Disclosure Platform shows that Hansoh PharmaA Phase III Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of HS-20094 Injection in Subjects with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus has been registered.

This is a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III clinical study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of HS-20094 compared to placebo in controlling blood glucose after 44 weeks of treatment in subjects with type 2 diabetes whose blood glucose was poorly controlled by diet and exercise alone. The trial plans to enroll 204 participants in China.

HS-20094 is a dual agonist of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors independently developed by Hansoh Pharma. By selectively activating GLP-1 and GIP receptors, it stimulates downstream pathways, generating biological effects such as blood sugar control and weight loss. The administration method is once-weekly subcutaneous injection.

In June 2025, Regeneron and Hansoh reached an agreement on this drug.License Agreement`, awarded to Regeneron`Global exclusive license (excluding mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao) for the development, production, and commercialization of HS-20094.

According to the terms of this agreement, Hansoh willReceived an upfront payment of $80 million and is eligible to receive up to $1.93 billion in milestone payments based on the product's development, regulatory approval, and commercialization progress, as well as double-digit percentage royalties on future potential product sales.
