Recently, Zhangjiang Pharma Valley enterprises have made new progress in international cooperation. Two companies have further promoted the development of potential new therapies through BD transactions to meet unmet clinical needs.

Argo Biopharma Deepens Strategic Cooperation with Novartis to Accelerate Development of New Cardiovascular Disease Drugs

Recently,Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Enterprise Argo BiopharmaAnnounced a new strategic cooperation agreement with Novartis to jointly develop multiple cardiovascular products. This newly reached agreement is a further expansion based on the existing cooperation between the two parties.


This new cooperation agreement includes:


● Authorization and Right of First Refusal


Argo Grants Novartis Options for Rights Outside China to Two Early-Stage Molecules for the Treatment of Severe Hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) and Mixed Dyslipidemia, as well as Preferential Negotiation Rights for the BW-00112 (ANGPTL3) Product. This product is currently in Phase II clinical trials in the United States and China, and subsequent combination therapy clinical trials will be led by Argo.


● Innovative transaction structure


For another siRNA candidate drug in the preclinical research stage, Argo Biopharma has granted Novartis an exclusive license outside of China, with a reciprocal option to share profits and losses (P&L) in the United States and China. This product is expected to enter Phase I clinical trials in 2026.


● Licensing Fees and Equity Financing


Argo Biopharma will receive an upfront payment of $160 million and is eligible for potential milestone and option payments, as well as tiered royalties on commercial sales, with a total potential milestone value of up to $5.2 billion. Additionally, Novartis has expressed preliminary interest in participating in Argo Biopharma's next round of equity financing. The specific terms of participation (including investment amount and timing) are still subject to routine due diligence and will be determined through negotiations and the signing of a formal agreement by both parties.

Over $1.08 Billion! Hengrui Pharma Licenses Small Molecule Drug

September 5,Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Enterprise Hengrui PharmaAnnounced an exclusive licensing agreement with U.S.-based Braveheart Bio for the Myosin small molecule inhibitor HRS-1893 project.


HRS-1893 is a highly selective small molecule Myosin inhibitor developed by Hengrui Pharma. It specifically inhibits myocardial myosin ATPase activity, normalizes myocardial contractility, reduces left ventricular hypertrophy, and improves diastolic compliance.The product has initiated multiple clinical trials, and the data from its Phase 1 clinical trial was recently presented at the 2025 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress. Additionally, the product has commenced Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.


Under the terms of the agreement, Hengrui Pharma has granted Braveheart Bio exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize HRS-1893 outside mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau in exchange for payment. Braveheart Bio will pay Hengrui Pharma an upfront fee of $65 million (including $32.5 million in cash and $32.5 million worth of Braveheart Bio shares) and a near-term milestone payment of $10 million upon completion of technology transfer, totaling $75 million. Additionally, Hengrui Pharma is entitled to receive up to $1.013 billion in milestone payments related to clinical development and sales, as well as corresponding sales royalties.
