Recently, an innovative enterprise focusing on orthopedic regenerative materials ——Hangzhou Origo Biotechnology Co., Ltd.(Hereinafter referred to as "Origo Biotechnology") announced the completion of a nearly 100-million-yuan Series A round of financing., This round is led byHetang VenturesLeading investment,Zhejiang Venture Capitaland other institutions followed suit. The financing funds will be mainly used to advance the clinical application and registration process of the company's core product, "Bone 02 Bone Adhesive."
As an innovative bone adhesive material designed for the treatment of comminuted fractures, Bone 02 Fragment Adhesive possessesRapid Adhesion in Wet EnvironmentsAndFully BiodegradableThe unique properties have the potential to break the treatment limitations of traditional metal internal fixation for such complex fractures, offering millions of patients a more efficient and safer solution.

Origo Biotechnology was founded in 2022, focusing on the research and development of regenerative materials for the musculoskeletal system, and is committed to building a tissue repair platform centered on orthopedics. Unlike the traditional material-based R&D model, the company adopts a "clinical-research-clinical" closed-loop approach, guided by unmet intraoperative challenges, to drive the transformation of basic research results into practical applications.
The founding team has over 40 years of in-depth experience in the orthopedic clinical field, accumulating extensive expertise in fracture treatment. Core product"Bone 02 Fragment Glue"The original intention of the research and development is derived from a long-standing but always unsolved problem in clinical practice:Efficient Reduction and Fixation of Comminuted Fractures。
In comminuted fractures occurring in highly complex areas such as articular surfaces and the distal radius, a large number of tiny bone fragments often cannot be precisely repositioned with the help of metal instruments. The operation is extremely time-consuming, and post-surgery, it can easily lead to bone loss, delayed bone healing, or even uneven joint surfaces, causing traumatic arthritis and significantly affecting the patient's long-term quality of life.
However, existing biological glue materials cannot function stably in bleeding and body fluid environments, and internationally, there is still no bone adhesive product available on the market that can both adhere efficiently and fully degrade in wet conditions.
"Bone02 Fracture Adhesive" is a fusion achievement of Origo Biotechnology based on years of orthopedic clinical pain points and biomimetic material science. Inspired by the phenomenon of "oyster reef stabilization"—where oysters secrete natural glue to stabilize their habitat structures—chief scientist Lin Xianfeng developed a composite material system capable of rapidly achieving high-strength adhesion in blood and moist tissue environments.

The product has the following core technical features:
Strong wet adhesive performance: In the surgical field filled with blood and body fluids,Stable connection of bone fragments can be completed within 3 minutes;
Fully Biodegradable:The material gradually degrades within 6 months post-operation as the tissue heals, eliminating the need for secondary removal.
Good Biocompatibility: In more than 150 clinical trials, no cases of immune rejection or local irritation reactions occurred;
Minimally invasive procedures have strong adaptability.:Support 2-3 cm small incision operation,Applicable for fracture treatment via minimally invasive approaches;
Significantly Reduce Dependence on Metal Instruments: In some indications, it can replace traditional plates and screws, simplifying the surgical structure.
The "02" in the product name signifies its highly effective bonding action, inspired by the high-strength instant adhesive properties of "502 glue."
Taking comminuted fractures of the distal radius as an example, traditional treatment often involves the use of multi-screw plate fixation. During the surgery, precise positioning and sequential installation are required, and the operation can take 2–3 hours with multiple surgeons working together. If the bone fragments are too small or numerous, it can easily lead to bone loss or postoperative nonunion.
Bone 02 Fragment Adhesive Demonstrates Significant Advantages in Clinical Trials:
Intraoperative Efficiency Improvement: Operation time reduced by over 70%, requiring only 1-2 people to cooperate in completing reduction and adhesion;
Postoperative recovery was good: The articular surface is smooth, the bone mass is completely preserved, and the incidence of traumatic arthritis is significantly reduced;
Reduce Complications: Due to the absence of metal implantation, the postoperative infection rate is low, and patient compliance is improved.
The company stated that Gu 02 is expected to be used in national defense emergency and battlefield medical scenarios in the future, realizing the implementation of "self-service fracture fixation" under combat injuries, with extensive promotion value.
In January 2025, Origo Biotechnology officially launched "Bone02 Bone Fragment Adhesive."Prospective, Multicenter, Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial, covering multiple tertiary hospitals in Zhejiang, Shanghai, and other regions.
As of now, the first round of trials has completed enrollment of over 150 patients, with no serious adverse events reported and good safety. Preliminary results show:
The bone healing time is no different from that of traditional metal fixation, and in some cases, even faster;
The recovery rate of wrist mobility in patients was higher than that in the control group within 3 months after surgery;
Patient satisfaction improved (no need for secondary removal, low foreign body sensation);
Doctors' intraoperative convenience scores are generally high.
The company expects to complete data analysis by the end of 2025, apply for NMPA registration in 2026, and simultaneously carry out FDA pathway planning.
In addition to bone fragmentation and bone adhesion, Origo Biotechnology has developed and commercialized multiple products targeting various core scenarios of the musculoskeletal system:
Disposable Gel Patch Former (PRP Patch Kit):Solve the "last mile" problem of PRP treatment, achieve rapid on-site preparation and molding, and have obtained innovative Class II medical device certification;
Porcine-derived Bone Repair Material:Breakthrough in immune rejection难题, achieving cross-species bone repair, supporting large-area bone defect filling;
Injectable Bone Cement Substitute、Immediate Implant Adhesive MaterialMultiple products are currently under development.
Origo Biotechnology emphasized that its platform-oriented positioning is not only focused on "fracture repair," but also revolves aroundBone Regeneration, Soft Tissue Repair and Hard Tissue AdhesionBuild a systematic solution with the goal of becoming a key force in the domestic substitution of orthopedic materials and technological leadership.
The completion of this round of Series A financing has provided Origo Biotechnology with sufficient support to advance product registration, expand production capacity, and explore international markets. The company will focus its investments on the following areas:
"NMPA Registration Application and FDA Clinical Preparation for 'Bone 02 Crushed Bone Adhesive'";
Commercial Scaling and Overseas Registration of PRP Patches and Porcine Bone Materials;
Technical Validation and Indication Expansion of Next-Generation Hard Tissue Adhesive Materials;
GMP Base Expansion and Raw Material Preparation System Optimization;
Build a Doctor Education and Patient Awareness Platform to Promote Technology Awareness。
From "the innovation of treatment concepts" to "the transformation of material technology," Origo Biotechnology is steadily progressing along a path driven by technology and guided by application scenarios, gradually achieving the leap from scientific research to industry.
Despite its relatively short history, Origo Biotechnology has successfully drawn industry attention with its breakthroughs in wet bone adhesive technology.
Comminuted fractures, bone loss, and nonunion after surgery... These long-standing "stubborn problems" in clinical practice may be gradually solved by a biomimetic material inspired by the ocean.
Series A financing is just the beginning. Whether it can smoothly achieve product registration, scale up to market launch, and expand into more high-value indications will determine whether it can truly define a "new paradigm for orthopedic materials in China."
