Since the "50 Smartest Companies" selection was introduced to China in 2018, TR50 has successively featured themes such as "China Power," "China Fulcrum," "China Synergy," and "China Leadership." This initiative has uncovered a group of Chinese innovative enterprises with global influence, including Huawei, Alibaba, BYD, DP Technology, WuXi Biologics, DJI, CATL, Insilico Medicine, ByteDance, Unitree Robotics, and more. These companies have not only demonstrated outstanding technological capabilities in fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing but have also actively participated in the construction of the global innovation ecosystem with an open mindset, offering solutions that are both distinctly Chinese and globally valuable.

This year's MIT TR 50, themed "China's Future," focuses on "A New Future of Global Collaboration," seeking enterprises that: possess the ability to achieve original technological breakthroughs and can lead industry development on the global stage; have a global perspective and can maintain an open and innovative spirit in a complex international environment; are capable of cross-field resource integration, creating new value through multidisciplinary intersections; promote human welfare and sustainable development through technology; and embody the spirit of long-term commitment, enabling continuous investment in fundamental research and cutting-edge technologies.
As a pioneer and leader in "AI for Science," DP Technology is committed to leveraging AI to advance scientific discovery and paradigm upgrades. At the main forum of the conference, Zhang Linfeng, founder and chief scientist of DP Technology, as a representative of the winning company and one of the 2022 DeepTech China Intelligent Computing Science and Technology Innovation Figures, delivered a speech titled "The Path to AI Scientist — From AI Co-Scientist to AI Scientist." Linfeng stated: The development of AI has gone through the Chatbot and Reasoner stages, and is currently in the midst of an Agent explosion phase. It will gradually enter the Innovator stage in the future, with the most challenging and valuable "crown problem" being whether "AI can drive real scientific discoveries." He emphasized that the key elements of scientific research lie in "reading, computing, and doing," and AI is progressively closing the full loop of deep literature analysis, scientific equation simulation, and automated experimentation. Over the past few years, DP Technology has built infrastructure such as multimodal knowledge bases, specialized scientific models, intelligent laboratory operating systems, and the "Bohr Research Space Station," pushing AI from a research assistant towards a more autonomous "AI Scientist." He believes that in the future, AI is expected to become a major force in scientific discovery, promoting human-machine collaboration to form new knowledge production relationships.
This perspective also echoes the latest trends in global artificial intelligence strategies. In July 2025, the United States launched the "America’s AI Action Plan." More than 90 federal actions were implemented simultaneously, with goals such as "accelerating innovation" and "building AI infrastructure." The plan also emphasized advancing artificial intelligence as an independent discipline to drive breakthroughs in fields like biology, chemistry, and materials. In May, Europe opened a public consultation for the scientific research community, where discussions focused on issues such as data/computing power availability, methodological rigor, and responsible use of scientific integrity, paving the way for a European strategy on "AI for Science." On August 21, China issued the "State Council's Opinions on Deeply Implementing the 'Artificial Intelligence+' Action," officially elevating the "Artificial Intelligence+" initiative to a systematic national action aimed at 2035. In this macro blueprint, "Artificial Intelligence + Science and Technology" was placed at the top of the "six key sectors."
It can be seen that AI for Science has become a global consensus at both the national strategic level and the scientific research practice level. Countries are competing to increase their investments, which not only promotes the rapid upgrading of technology and infrastructure but also creates new opportunities and platforms for enterprises and research institutions.
