Novo Nordisk's Oral Semaglutide (Rybelsus®) Approved in the EU as First and Only GLP-1 RA with Cardiovascular Benefits for Type 2 Diabetes

Novo Nordisk announced on September 15 that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has approved an update to the Rybelsus® (oral semaglutide) label. Rybelsus® is now the first and only oral glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) approved in the EU for the treatment of type 2 diabetes with confirmed cardiovascular benefits — this medication mimics the action of natural hormones in the body, helping to regulate blood sugar, appetite, and digestive function.
