Gelonghui September 19 | A menopause drug from Bayer AG has received support from EU regulators, marking a key step in bringing this drug, which alleviates hot flashes, to the market. The European Medicines Agency has recommended approval of the drug, named "Lynkuet" — clinical studies show that it reduces the frequency and severity of hot flashes in postmenopausal women. Currently, the drug has been approved for marketing in the UK and Canada. This drug, with the chemical name "Elinzanetant," offers a "non-hormonal" treatment option for billions of women worldwide who are affected by menopausal symptoms. Menopausal symptoms often impact sleep, mood, and quality of life, forcing some women to leave their jobs. Bayer AG stated that the drug works by targeting two distinct sites in the brain, regulating a group of neurons that become overactive due to decreased estrogen levels, thereby exerting its therapeutic effect.
