Atrial Fibrillation Ablation


Traditional surgical methods for atrial fibrillation patients mainly include radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation, both of which destroy lesions through temperature and may also damage surrounding tissues. In contrast, the latest pulsed field ablation for atrial fibrillation acts like a "precision-guided missile," targeting only abnormal electrical signals without harming other tissues. It features precision, efficiency, and safety.

Surgical Procedure


The patient is a 70-year-old male with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Preoperative detailed evaluation of the pulmonary vein anatomy and ostial diameter was conducted using left atrial CTA imaging. The diameter of the upper pulmonary vein ostium was approximately 13mm, and the lower pulmonary vein ostium was approximately 9mm. Therefore, ShineyoMedical's RhythPulse was selected for use.®The 15mm model of the pulsed ablation catheter system was used for ablation at the pulmonary vein site.

The patient's surgery was performed under general anesthesia. The femoral vein was punctured and the surgical access was established, with a decapolar catheter placed in the coronary sinus. Atrial septal puncture was completed under DSA guidance, successfully establishing access to the left atrium. RhythPulse was then introduced.®The PFA catheter was delivered to the left atrium for left atrial modeling and pulmonary vein potential mapping. Then, the catheter was placed at the ostium and vestibule regions of each pulmonary vein for ablation. The pulmonary vein potentials rapidly disappeared, achieving complete isolation, and successfully completing PVI+. The entire ablation process took only 30 minutes, the surgery proceeded smoothly with no intraoperative complications, and the patient's vital signs were stable postoperatively.
