PharmaCircleMonitoring Shows: Recently, according to a report by the UK's Financial Times, Pfizer is close to reaching a $73 billion deal to acquire Metsera. Pfizer will pay $47.50 per share in cash to Metsera, with an additional $22.50 per share payable if certain specific targets are met, valuing the latter at up to $73 billion (approximately 51.9 billion RMB). The acquisition is expected to be announced as early as September 22, 2025.
Based on a proprietary peptide library of approximately 20,000 Nutritional Stimulating Hormone (NuSH) analog peptides, the company has developed multiple innovative drugs for treating obesity, overweight, and related diseases. The technology platform includes: (1) HALO peptide lipidation technology.: This technology enables peptides to bind simultaneously to albumin and targets, thereby extending the drug half-life to nearly the level of albumin, two to three times longer than other NUSH peptides. This means the drug can be administered once a month, improving tolerability and scalability for production. (2) MOMENTUM Oral Peptide Delivery Technology: This technology can be scaled up for production and offers therapeutic effects at dose levels much lower than competitors' NUSH oral peptides. It combines the manufacturing scale advantages of non-peptide, small-molecule drugs with the efficacy and tolerability akin to injections.
