Recently, BioMap, the global pioneer in foundational large models for life sciences, and Tongxi Biotech, the first company in China to achieve industrialization of HMO (Human Milk Oligosaccharides), officially announced a strategic partnership under the witness of Huangshan District's Party Committee and government. We are greatly honored to have Zhang Xu, Secretary of the Huangshan District Committee, and Hu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Huangshan District Committee, attend the ceremony. Units including the Huangshan District Investment Promotion Bureau and Huangshan Taiping Economic Development Zone participated. Zhen Peng, Vice General Manager of BioMap; Du Ruifeng, BioMap's Intelligent Fermentation Solutions Expert; Liu Zhenyun, General Manager of Huangshan Tongxi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.; and Cheng Fengwei, Director of Huangshan Tongxi Biotechnology Co., Ltd., were also in attendance.

In the future, the two parties will focus on the bottlenecks of the synthetic biology industry, concentrating on Tongxi Bio's HMOs Genetically Modified Microorganism (GMM) platform and the construction of intelligent production lines. Based on BioMap's profound expertise in AI large model algorithm development, bio-computing platform construction, and intelligent system building — especially its molecular models, metabolic models, systems biology models, and ecological models developed through large strain models in the field of synthetic biology — they will comprehensively empower all stages of Tongxi Bio’s business processes, from product development, small-scale trials, pilot tests to large-scale production. This collaboration aims to enhance R&D efficiency, accelerate innovation, reduce production costs, and promote the large-scale industrial implementation of HMO.

BioMap has a cross-modal life science foundational large model with 210 billion parameters, capable of decoding the underlying patterns of genomes, proteins, cells, and biological systems. It builds high-quality AI task models for life sciences with smaller data and cost consumption, referred to as the "Biological Simulator." Currently, BioMap has achieved State-of-the-Art (SOTA) performance in over 200 tasks across drug discovery, biomanufacturing, fundamental research, and healthcare. It provides large model-driven specialized AI agents to more than 700 global clients, covering dozens of professional subfields.

By deeply integrating the large model technology system of life sciences with biomanufacturing fermentation processes, BioMap has constructed an intelligent process agent to achieve intelligent process optimization and control. This intelligent agent provides core capabilities such as process data perception and fusion, domain knowledge reasoning and generation, process flow simulation and prediction, and real-time optimization and decision-making for production parameters. It helps enterprises achieve digital perception in the production process, multi-parameter process optimization, and full-process optimal control, accelerating the product innovation cycle, optimizing enterprise cost structures, and building a digital moat for enterprises. It transforms the entire chain of biomanufacturing from R&D to production, driving the industry to shift from "experience-based" and "trial-and-error" models to "AI-driven" and "predictive" models. It reshapes the core driving force of the biomanufacturing industry and accelerates the transformation and upgrading of Biomanufacturing 2.0.

Tongxi Biotech (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suzhou Yixi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) is an innovative game-changer in China's synthetic biology field.. The company has now invested 450 million yuan in construction.China's First Batch of HMO Synthetic Biology Factories, in addition to the existing production lines, the annual production capacity will reach 3,000 tons after the official operation of the second line in Phase I, becomingThe World's Largest HMO Factory, filling the industrialization gap in this field in China. Tongxi Bio quickly grew into a unicorn enterprise in China's HMO field with its self-developed high-performance strains and leading technology, breaking the foreign monopoly.

Synthetic biology is hailed as the "third biotechnology revolution," yet its transition from laboratory research to scaled production still faces numerous challenges. As Liu Zhenyun, founder of Tongxi Bio, pointed out, crossing the "Darwinian Sea" of synthetic biology requires overcoming three major hurdles: technology, cost, and efficiency—especially breaking through core issues like inefficient design and process bottlenecks. To address these industrial pain points, Tongxi Bio independently developed China's first fully proprietary genetically modified microbial strain platform (GMM) in the HMO field, effectively resolving the inherent contradiction between "high yield" and "high consumption." By integrating a self-developed low-cost synthetic culture medium and metabolic pathway optimization algorithms, the company achieved digital precision control over the fermentation process, fully embodying the advanced concept of deep integration between data-driven intelligent design and engineering-based production.

This collaboration represents an important corporate practice in crossing the "Darwinian Sea," indicating that foundational large models in life sciences are penetrating the core aspects of biomanufacturing. For Tongxi Bio, HMO, as a key active component in breast milk, is experiencing continuously growing market demand, creating an urgent need for AI technology to further enhance R&D and production efficiency; for BioMap, the foundational large model in life sciences requires validation and iteration in real industrial scenarios, with synthetic biology being the optimal testing ground.

BioMap Vice General Manager Peng Zhen pointed out that the essence of the partnership lies in the deep alignment between the demand for large AI model technology and the pain points of industrial scenarios: BioMap's large AI models can accelerate the technical transformation of Tongxi Biotech, injecting an intelligent engine to reduce costs and increase efficiency; meanwhile, Tongxi Biotech's industrial data provides valuable application scenarios for the industrialization of BioMap’s AI models.

In the short term, the cooperation between the two parties will accelerate the scaled production and cost reduction of HMO, promoting its transition from a high-end nutritional additive to a popular health consumer product; in the long term, the AI large models and industry experience accumulated through the cooperation can be replicated in other synthetic biology fields such as rare sugars and bio-based materials, forming a "technology-data-scenario-industry" virtuous cycle flywheel effect.

As the collaboration unfolds, an "AI-powered, industry-nurtured" innovation paradigm in synthetic biology is taking shape. In the future, BioMap and Tongxi Bio are poised to jointly build a leading "intelligent factory" for synthetic biology in the industry, driving the growth of the synthetic biology economy in China and globally, while providing more efficient and intelligent solutions for human health and sustainable development.
