Despite the National Day holiday this week, new domestic regulatory policies, outbound business development deals for multiple Chinese innovative drugs, and personnel changes in pharmaceutical companies have continued unabated.

In terms of policy regulation, Wuhan Youkang was disqualified from the sixth batch of centralized procurement for high-value medical consumables due to serious deficiencies in its quality management system, and its application eligibility was suspended for one and a half years. Agfa Healthcare, a well-known foreign enterprise in medical informatics, was rated as having “particularly serious dishonesty” and issued a public apology.

In the industrial sector, Abogen has entered into an mRNA collaboration with Novartis, with a potential value of up to $7.8 billion, making ABO2203 an mRNA-encoded TCE project of global interest; CHIATAI TIANQING has partnered with STADA to launch its pembrolizumab biosimilar into the European market.

Meanwhile, the revocation of Hansoh Pharma’s aumolertinib from the EU market just seven months after its approval, along with Beam Therapeutics’ lawsuit against Chinese gene-editing company YolTech Therapeutics for alleged trade secret theft, have both sparked intense industry scrutiny.

On September 27, Hansoh Pharma announced: On September 25, the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission issued an implementing decision,Withdrawal of the EU marketing authorization for almonertinib.

Aumolertinib, a third-generation EGFR inhibitor under Hansoh Pharma, was approved in the European Union on February 12 this year.

The announcement pointed out that,The decision to revoke was due to a lawsuit filed by AstraZeneca. It is reported that, according to the decision letter, the key Phase III FLAURA study of Tagrisso was cited in the almonertinib application to extrapolate the safety and efficacy of almonertinib from Asian patients to European patients.

Osimertinib was launched in 2016, with its data protection period expiring in February 2024. The marketing authorization application for almonertinib was submitted on December 1, 2022.
