C-Med Healthcare(03309) announced that on September 29, 2025, a subsidiary of Health Hope Pharma entered into a tripartite global licensing and cooperation agreement with Gilead Sciences, Inc. and Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. regarding encequidar, the first P-glycoprotein inhibitor in the field of virology (Health Hope Pharma holds the global exclusive rights to this drug outside of Korea).
According to the agreement, Health Hope Pharma and Hanmi Pharmaceuticals will grant Gilead Sciences the global exclusive rights to encequidar in the field of virology. In addition, Health Hope Pharma and Hanmi Pharmaceuticals will also provide drug supply, share technical knowledge, and participate in the project as the main partners. After meeting certain conditions and milestones within the contract period, Health Hope Pharma will receive an upfront payment of 10 million US dollars and will be entitled to potential payments of up to approximately 72.5 million US dollars in the future. It can also collect royalties from net sales at a low single-digit percentage rate.
Health Hope Pharma mainly engages in innovative drug development projects in the field of oncology and is currently researching the formulation of oral drugs using encequidar in multiple areas. Health Hope Pharma is studying the use of oral paclitaxel combined with encequidar for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in the oncology field, aiming to replace intravenous paclitaxel in chemotherapy, which is the company's most advanced project. Health Hope Pharma is preparing to launch Phase 3 global clinical research on the treatment of metastatic breast cancer with oral paclitaxel combined with encequidar. The research is planned to be conducted at multiple centers in the United States, Hong Kong, and New Zealand by the end of 2025.
