This means that Boston Scientific achieved 300,000 procedures in less than nine months. The FARAPULSE procedure (Boston Scientific just announced in January this year that it had completed 200,000 surgeries) is astonishing. It shows the rapid growth of PFA, surpassing the normal growth rate of innovative medical devices.

Nick Spadea-Anello's Remarks

"Today, I am extremely proud to share an important milestone for Boston Scientific: FARAPULSE has successfully treated 500,000 patients. For patients with atrial fibrillation, regaining a normal life means more time with family, greater freedom in daily activities, and reduced mental burdens. Knowing that FARAPULSE has helped 500,000 people regain confidence in their lives is profoundly meaningful to us. We sincerely thank the healthcare professionals, nursing teams, and our colleagues at Boston Scientific who made this achievement possible—and we also thank every patient who trusted us on their journey of atrial fibrillation treatment."

Competitor Performance

As we all know, PFA has become the hottest track in the cardiovascular field, as well as the fastest-growing track, and also the most competitive track.
This track brings together many top companies, such as Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott, Biotronik, Kardium, HeartRail, Denovo Electrophysiology, and Jianhu Medical, among others. Among them, Boston Scientific and Medtronic are the most powerful companies, so overseas markets consistently favor these two companies to dominate the electrophysiology field.
In August this year, Medtronic alsoAnnounce the total sales volume of its PFA products,PulseSelectAndSphere-9 Two PFA Products Have Surpassed 100,000 Global Surgeries.

And Johnson & Johnson also announced the total of its PFA products in July this year.Sales volume,VARIPULSE Surpasses 10,000 Global Surgeries.

Other participants either have just launched their products, or have entered a relatively single market rather than the global market; therefore, these companies have not disclosed detailed sales figures.
From the sales data currently released by Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific is undoubtedly leading the pack. Both Medtronic and Johnson & Johnson lag far behind Boston Scientific.
Especially MedtronicLast year, Citibank predicted that Medtronic would dominate the PFA market (it was estimated that by next year, Medtronic would capture 56% of the PFA market). Unfortunately, while the prediction was rosy, the reality has been less so. The gap between Medtronic and Boston Scientific has not only failed to narrow but has instead widened. This has led onlookers to question Medtronic's commercialization capabilities, which now seem inferior even to Johnson & Johnson. Johnson & Johnson entered the market more than a year earlier than Medtronic and achieved over 10,000 sales within eight months of FDA approval (despite a neurovascular event causing at least a one-month delay during that period). If Medtronic continues in its current state, the PFA market will become a duopoly between Boston Scientific and Johnson & Johnson.
For the onlookers, they still prefer San Guo Sha and look forward to Medtronic demonstrating the strength expected of the top medical device company.
